How to submit your proposal for an oral presentation, or a non-refereed paper

Proposals must be submitted by Monday 17 July 2017.

They should include a brief abstract (200 words maximum), and information about the presenter.

We will advise presenters on whether or not their proposal has been accepted by Monday 7 August 2017.

The conference committee is happy to give feedback on proposed presentations.

The conference will include panels on the following topics.

  • Organising migrant workers
  • Unions and refugees
  • Labour movement responses to free trade agreements

We want to encourage people to consider submitting papers that address these issues.

Early submission of proposals is strongly recommended.

Publication of papers

Selected papers from the conference will be peer reviewed and published in 2018 in special editions of:
· Economic and Labour Relations Review
· Labour History

We will not be publishing a book of conference papers.

How to submit your proposal for peer-review and possible publication

Presenters wishing to have their paper double-blind peer-reviewed must submit their paper and an abstract by Monday 26 June 2017.

Papers must be no more than 7000 words.

Authors can indicate whether or not they would like their paper considered for the special edition of ELRR and/or Labour History.

We will organise refereeing and send referees’ reports to authors as quickly as possible.

Corrected manuscripts will need to be returned to us by 31 July 2017.

We will notify authors as soon as their paper has been accepted in the peer-reviewed stream.

This will not guarantee publication in either ELRR or Labour History.

The editorial boards of the two special journal editions will meet and invite authors to participate in those editions. We cannot guarantee that these offers will be made before the conference.

Authors whose papers have been accepted for publication in one of the special journal editions will have the opportunity to make minor changes to their articles after the conference, in order to take into account comments made in discussion.

Early submission of papers for refereeing is strongly recommended.

We would also appreciate the earliest possible indication that you might be submitting a refereed paper. Email us at 2017conference@blha.com.au
