While our friends in Adelaide have been active, our old mates Lloyd Edmunds and John Arrowsmith have teamed up to produce a special multi-coloured issue of Recorder, Hummer’s Mexican equivalent. A different form of Bicentenary ‘celebration’ articles commemorate the historic achievement of the 48 hour week by Melbourne building trade workers in 1856. As they point out in their introduction: ‘It is a matter of concern that in the welter of words about the Bicentenary there is almost total neglect of this great page in our history’.
