Surry Hills ALP: A Branch History

Members of the Surry Hills A.L.P. are presently engaged in compiling a branch history set against a more general look at the labour movement in the area and at Surry Hills’ background as a working-class community. The main approach to be employed is the collection of oral reminiscences. One exploratory meeting, at which the Sydney Branch of the Labour History Society was represented by Andrew Moore, has already been held. Fred Miller MLA and Lenny Devine (ex MHR) were amongst those who contributed valuable reminiscences. Another meeting is planned. Ideas, information and assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please contact either Dianne Court (335-728) or Phil Rhodes (331-3422).
