Solidarity Forever! re-issued as free e-book

The Australian book of radical history Solidarity Forever! by Bertha Walker has been released in a free digital edition.

First published in hard covers in 1972, the book has been out of print for many years. Now the author’s son, Alan Walker, has digitised the book and published it on the website http://www.solidarityforeverbook.com/ .

He says he is launching the digital edition of Solidarity Forever! in 2012 to commemorate the centenary of Bertha Walker’s birth and the 40th anniversary of the book’s first publication. The book tells of the socialist and radical movements of the early 20th century in Australia. The linking theme is the activities of the author’s  father, Percy Laidler, one of Melbourne’s leading revolutionary orators and organisers.

Initially the book is available on Web pages or as a PDF file. Versions for e-book readers may be released later.
